ACACED: The indispensable tool for cat breeders and cat lovers
WHAT DOES A.C.A.C.E.D. STAND FOR?
Attestation of Knowledge for Pets of Domestic Species
WHAT IS ACACED?
The attestation de connaissance des animaux domestiques (certificate of knowledge of domestic animals) is a document issued in France under the law of January 6, 1999. The aim of this attestation is to ensure that people wishing to carry out certain professional activities related to domestic animals have the minimum knowledge required for animal welfare and safety. There is one ACACED for each species. The ACACED is obtained after a minimum 14-hour training course (or after obtaining an equivalent diploma: see list below).
CAUTION: ACACED provides a basic understanding of legislation and animal needs, but is absolutely no substitute for formal training. You can't learn to be a breeder in 14 hours! Think of it as a license to practice, rather than real training.
